Stroller-ing!

Since I finally have good sidewalk (for the first time in at least a decade!), I got a good double stroller. Watch us go - without Jack, who is 3, running a-muck in the neighborhood!

Jack (3) and Sophie (10 mos), ready to go!
The last time I went for a walk with him, he was riding his scooter. Should keep him occupied, yes? Oh no. He saw a trampoline, daringly displayed on the back side of a house, and ran to check it out.

The poor woman who lived there came out as I was trying to catch him and pull him out of the yard. "I don't like kids in my yard!" she hollered.

Innocent? Yes. But also ready to cause mayhem at the slightest provocation.
What do they call trampolines? An "attractive nuisance", right? Well, I apologized - it certainly wasn't my intent to have him in her back yard - and swore never to take him on a walk again.

But I love to walk. So wish me luck - hopefully this will get me going again!

Welcome to the Hales blog!

Working on houses has become a favorite hobby for both me and my husband, Doug. Our family has even told us that we are always painting when they come, which should be a sign that we are truly demented when it comes to home improvement - or at least, when it comes to painting while having visitors.

This house is our fourth. Please don't let me get started on how many times we've moved. We have always purchased our houses with a look to the future - this one is going to be a rental, this one is going to be sold...but this one is The One. Hopefully, where our children will remember growing up.

Since I love all things remodelling, redecorating (having been a part-time stager) and gardening, I thought I would start a blog. Then those who actually want to know what we're doing can see it. And I can get it out of my system, so I don't annoy those who don't want to know.

So, here we go!

PS - the Hacienda thing is just for alliteration (and perhaps for inspiration). We are actually in the Rocky Mountains, so go figure.
