Curtains...and More Curtains...

In the spirit of finishing up old projects while taking on new projects, I decided to tackle some unfinished business with curtains.

Bonnie's curtains were all hanging on one rod, which was bending under the load. I changed that to two rods, so that she could have the privacy of the sheer curtain for day, but still have sunlight, and then she could close the primary curtains for privacy at night. She was thrilled with the results:

This is how I like it (although I would move the bed)...
This is how she likes it.
Malena's curtains needed a thermal lining. It gets so hot in there with the  morning sun...and with our air conditioning adventures last week, it was twice as bad (by the way, the A/C is on the mend and we are again running with air. Whew.). So I got her a double rod and hung the curtains again. Keep in mind that I already owned these curtains...they have just been sitting on my sewing table for a few months.

The double rod
Malena and I agree on keeping these curtains down.
I would like to move the table, though...
Looky there - two finished projects! At least, I think they're finished...I don't particularly like looking at Bonnie's curtains from outside, since they are the only ones that are pink (the rest are white or tan):

And Malena has started complaining that her thermal curtains don't keep all the sun out. But! For the moment, done.

So now onto new work...Jack's curtains. I got the fabric for these on Saturday while Doug finished the paneled wall downstairs. I also got fabric for upstairs, but you might have to wait to see those...I can only tackle so many sewing projects at one time.

I know: whine, whine, whine. I did my normal curtain thing: laid them out with lining right on top, then rolled the sides:

After sewing the sides, I rolled the top and sewed that. Then I hung it.

It still needs a bottom hem, and I'd like it to hang closer to the ceiling. But anyway, I did finish up something (somethings?) old and tackled something new. Let's see if I can keep this going...(and the maniacal laughter starts...)
