We have a framed basement. Projects usually don't go very quickly in our house. Doug says one week: "I'm going to buy supplies." Supplies are delivered the next week. Then it is several weeks (or months) until those supplies are actually used. Then another few weeks (or months, you're getting the drift now, right?) until the finishing work is complete.
Well. Not so with this. Doug told me last week about the supplies - and they were delivered the Next Day.
The boards...there were a lot more of them when he started. |

Basement, east wall |
Start to finish: four days. Holy cow.
So what's his motivation, you ask? Sit down for this one...although it won't really be a shocker.
Doug wants a giant TV in the basement. This will be our "TV room", after all. And suddenly, he really wants that large TV. Enough to actually frame the basement.
And since he's at it, he even framed the unfinished bathroom downstairs.
Although he did realize that there wasn't enough clearance built in around the toilet originally. His framing has to be slightly redone to accommodate the strangeness of the previous owner's not-so-planned-out plans. If that makes any sense.
And here's the final shocker: he's already started on wiring. You'll get to see the results next week. Wow, a framed basement! We might actually have a finished basement in the next little while! (!!!!!) Anything fun going on in your house?
Oh my goodness!!! A framed basement! Whatever will you do?? Nothing really going on in my house, just a plan to rip out the carpet in the basement and put down linoleum tiles so that when Ani spits up it doesn't stain. Whoever thought carpet was a good idea in that room was just sick and wrong. And my house needs a really good cleaning. Company is coming! :D
